** The boil water advisory has been lifted as of 12:00 a.m. on January 22nd **

Latham Water District have issued a boil water advisory the Town and Village of Colonie.

Bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and preparing food until for further notice. At about 9:00 A.M on January 19th, the water system lost pressure due to a break in a 24″ main in the area of British American Boulevard. When water mains lose pressure, it increases the chance that untreated water and harmful microbes can enter your water.

Latham Water District repair crews are working to shut down and isolate the effected section of the water transmission main. Once isolated, pressures are expected to rebuild and return to normal. In addition, Latham Water District staff have activated the emergency interconnect system with the City of Albany to assist in restoring water pressure. Latham Water District will collect bacteriological samples throughout the Town to verify water quality and ensure that the water is safe. Once the repair is made, it is likely that you will need to boil water for the next 2 days. You will be informed when tests confirm that you no longer need to boil your water.
