Mark Stevens has lived in the Village of Colonie with his wife Joanne for over 38 years. He was appointed as a Village Trustee in April 2024 and was elected to his first term in March of 2025. Before that he served on the Village planning board.
Mark had a career in Law Enforcement for over 35 years, retiring in 2006 as a Captain with the Albany County Sheriff’s Dept. With the Sheriff’s Department he served as the Commander of the Highway Patrol Division, the Headquarters Unit and was the first Coordinator of the Albany County E-911 system serving the entre County. Mark also completed several training schools including the FBI National Academy in Quantico Virginia.
After retiring from the Sheriff’s Dept. , Mark was appointed as the Chief of Security for Chief Judge Judith Kaye and the NYS Court of Appeals, New York’s highest court which he served for 5 years.
In 2026, Mark and Joanne will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.
